Roaring Dillon Falls just south of Bend on Central Oregon’s sometimes rugged and always beautiful Deschutes River.

Very early snowfall of 4 inches or so came to Bend area today, and other parts of central Oregon and Washington – it’s only October 4th and was 90 degrees here last week! Rumors abound of downed trees, power lines and other havoc around town. Here are shots from our deck area, including a large cracked snow-laden branch on a juniper tree, the still-flowing snowy fountain, and a still-going water spinner in the nearly-frozen birdbath.

Tumalo Falls is amazing, but so is the trail upstream. We walked about 2.5 miles and saw another 6 waterfalls.

Benham Falls is located on the Deschutes River several miles south of Bend, Oregon.

A mellow place along the banks of the beautiful Metolius River at the eastern foot of the Cascade Mountains near Bend in Central Oregon. Gordon has a long history with this river and it’s one of our favorite places anywhere.

Spectacular 120-foot high falls on the upper McKenzie River, in west central Oregon, about an hour from our home. There are scores of beautiful waterfalls in Oregon, where there is of course plenty of rain to nourish them!
